Break the silence DENIM DAY 2025
BREAK THE SILENCE: DENIM DAY 2025
Join us in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and take a stand against victim-blaming.
DATE: April 24, 2025
TIME: 4 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: City Hall Rotunda,
920 Mayor Kenneth A.Gibson Blvd.,
Newark, NJ
What to Expect:
• Community Forums: Engage in critical conversations about justice, healing, and systemic change.
• Art & Performances: Powerful exhibits and live acts amplifying survivors’ voices.
Resources: Connect with local organizations offering
support, counseling, and advocacy.
Why Denim?
In 1992, an 18-year-old survivor in Italy was blamed for her assault because her jeans were deemed “too tight” to remove without consent. When the court overturned her attacker’s conviction in 1999, activists worldwide protested by wearing denim as a symbol of resistance. Denim Day was born to challenge harmful myths and stand with survivors.
WEAR DENIM ON APRIL 24 to reject victim-blaming and
demand accountability.
+ SHARE THIS POST to spread awareness-your voice matters!
Every thread of denim represents a stitch in the fabric of justice. Let’s weave change together.
# RSVP NOW and bring your friends, family, and allies.
